Hand spun cotton in various shades of solid indigo and stripes from Burkina in West Africa. From many years of handwashing and drying under the Saharan sun, these thick textiles became softy worn into a beautiful ranges of colors. Also known as Mossi wrappers.

The backs of the pillows are made from linen. Because these textiles are vintage there may be slight imperfections of the cloth. We at Cloth and Goods feel that the imperfections only add to the charm and uniqueness.

African Indigo pillows made from Bogolan cloth, which is created by the Bamana tribe in Mali. The tribe uses natural indigo dye. The men weave the cotton cloth in narrow strips and sew them together.

The African vintage indigo pillows are made from Ndop cotton cloth used for clothing in ritual ceremonies. Resist dyed in geometric patterens from the Bamileke Cameroon.

All pillow fronts are made from indigo cloth and the backs are made of 100% cotton bark cloth or 100% linen.

Pillow covers come with down inserts and invisible zippers.

The African Kuba & Raffia Appliqué Cloth pillow fronts are made from embroidered, cut-pile, raffia cloth and appliqué from the Congo of western Zaire. Both men and women wore various asymmetrical, geometric patterns as their dance skirts and for ceremonial purposes. The raffia threads were grown and prepared by local plant dyes, which produce shades of brown, rust, black and gold. The backs of the pillows are made from linen or hemp fabric. Because these textiles are vintage there may be slight imperfections of the cloth. We at Cloth and Goods feel that the imperfections only add to the charm and uniqueness.
