Introducing Rowland Ricketts Indigo Table Runners

I was drawn to his work because he represented Cloth and Goods’ essence of mixing traditional methods to create contemporary textiles. These runners are designed, dyed, and finished in the studio of Rowland Ricketts by husband & wife team Rowland and Chinami and assistant Amanda Fong.

Rowland trained in indigo farming in Japan and his wife Chinami studied indigo dyeing in her hometown of Tokushima, Japan before apprenticing with ikat kimono weaver, Yumie Aoto, in Shimane. The outcome of their work is a unique product that is skillfully crafted.
